Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Cities Area Transit (CAT) services (fixed route, Senior Rider, & Paratransit) will be fare free beginning March 23. No fare collection and purchasing will allow CAT staff to more effectively address health recommendations
With no need to sell passes, the Metro Transit Center, located at 450 Kittson Ave Grand Forks, ND 58201, will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23. This includes the Jefferson Lines offices.
Cities Area Transit riders are recommended to use the back door of the buses to board and deboard, when possible, reducing contact with the bus drivers. Riders should also aim to keep an appropriate distance from other passengers, at least two empty seats. Cities Area Transit has updated cleaning procedures to include nightly disinfecting of all interior areas of the vehicles. If passengers do not need to go anywhere, CAT staff highly encourages people to stay home.
Cities Area Transit is committed to continue providing vital services during this unprecedented emergency. Public transit is a necessary service to help people maintain living standards – buying groceries, accessing medical services, and traveling to work.
Cities Area Transit offices are closed to the public; however, staff is still available to answer questions and schedule Senior Rider and Dial-A-Ride rides. For updated information from Cities Area Transit, please follow CAT or the City of Grand Forks on social media, check the Grand Forks Herald Business section, or check the City of Grand Forks’ website.
