Economic Development Authority
The Economic Development Authority is a multi-faceted community development agency for the City of East Grand Forks. The City has always been very active and involved with projects that assist business and industry which shapes our community. Under the leadership of the Economic Development Authority Board, the Mayor, and City Council, this office continues that mission.
EDA Opens Forgivable Loan Program
On January 19 the EDA approved and opened a forgivable loan program for all City businesses but targeted at businesses affect by Executive Orders 20-99 and 20-103 which either completely closed or severely restricted operations from before Thanksgiving until after New Year Day. The maximum amount of the loan is $24,999. If the business operates for three years and meets employment criteria, the loan will be forgiven. Grant Program for East Grand Forks Businesses Opens
The State of Minnesota has made grant funds available to assist businesses. Polk County was allocated about $622,000. Part of the funds have been reserved for businesses located in East Grand Forks. The City’s EDA targeted the following types of businesses as the primary recipients for these funds: retail, travel, transportation, restaurant, service, and hospitality. To apply, download and complete the application and send it with Profit and Loss Statements for the years 2019 and 2020 to Paul Gorte at pgorte@egf.mn. There is no requirement to repay these funds; they are grants. The application deadline is January 29, 2021.

The State of Minnesota has made grant funds available to assist businesses. Polk County was allocated about $622,000. Part of the funds have been reserved for businesses located in Polk County but outside of East Grand Forks, Crookston, or Fosston.
